![]() We've all been here before, you're walking to your car and you're confronted with a gift from the sky sitting on the roof of your ride. This can be harmful to your paint so follow these instructions the next time your in this messy situation. Firstly you want to remove the bird or bat poo from your paint as quickly as possible, the poo is acidic especially from the bats. This acidic poo can leave a permanent mark on your car or even strip the paint straight back to the primer, which I've personally seen before. Also the sun baking the poo onto your paint is also harmful as it's drying out any moisture and only leaving the acidic contaminates and accelerates the process. You also don't want to just wipe the poo off with cloth. It will be filled with dirt and seeds which are both very abrasive. So wiping this off would be the same as rubbing your paint with sand paper and thats the last thing we want. It will create swirls and scratches on your paint. Sometimes if you are quick enough just hosing the poo off will remove it and you will be able to get the entire thing off without a fuss. Otherwise if its baked on a littler harder or you are not near a hose the next tip will help remove it safely Grab a microfibre towel and saturate it in water. Then place the towel on the poo and let it sit for a few minutes. The water will help soften the poo and the microfibre towel will do its job and grab any residue in its fibres. After a few minutes Being careful not to scratch the paint scoop up as much poo as you can. Sometimes using a hose at this point can remove the remaining quickly. Though repeating these steps another few times will get the poo off without scratching the paint or letting the acid ruin your cars paint. Scott GC Car Detailing Gold Coast |
