The benefits of foam washing When a car is dirty, most people apply elbow grease and a generous amount of product to scrub it back to spotless. However, people forget that dirt isn’t always simply fine dust, it can often be quite coarse and rough. While scrubbing like crazy can clean the car, it runs the risk of pushing and dragging the course dirt over the paintwork which is very abrasive to the paint leaving swirl marks and slight scratches. Over time, these swirls and scratches can accumulate resulting in blemished paint. The solution? Snow foam! Why? When used correctly with proper understanding and technique, snow foam is a safe and effective pre-wash step that helps to soften the dirt and contaminants. When combined with a pressure rinse it effortlessly takes the dirt off the car without the scratches, swirls. As seen in the video, when snow foam is applied to the car, the thick snow layer is left to sit for a few minutes allowing it to soak in effectively. Afterwards, a high-pressure rinse is used to agitate the remaining dirt and remove the contaminates that were once stuck to the paint.
GC Car Detailing’s Classic, Deluxe, Exterior, Superior and Prestige packages include snow-foam treatments which prepare the car for a safe, soft handwash to finish the clean. Ask about one of our packages today.

Ceramic Coating Explained: What it is and the benefits.
Ceramic coating or “paint protection” is quickly becoming one of my most requested services however, there is much confusion as to what it actually is and the benefits. As succinctly as possible...here is the run down. What is a ceramic coating? The main chemical compound of ceramic coating is si02 (silica) which is the key ingredient of glass. The ceramic coating is applied to the car’s surface creating a hard bond. The silica percentage determines how long the ceramic coating will last. While there are many names for ceramic coatings such as paint protection, nano technology, glass coating, it is the same service, containing the same product, for the same benefits. What are the benefits of ceramic coating? The benefits of ceramic coating are predominately to create protection between the world and your car’s paint. Further benefits of ceramic coating include:

As a mobile car detailer I am drying multiple cars a day. I personally love large plush microfibre drying towels and wouldn't use anything else. Though most of my customers use a leather chamois and always ask if its safe to use on their cars. It's an important stage or the wash process so I've created a pro and con list to help the drying towel vs. chamois debate. ![]() DRYING TOWEL Negatives: -Expensive, around $30 -Hard to ring water out Positives: -Scratch free -Dry your car quickly and saves time -Picks up any left over contaminants ![]() LEATHER CHAMOIS Negatives: -Can scratch your paint -Takes longer to dry your car -Tend to dry out over time Positives: -Cheap -Small and fits into all nooks -Easy to ring out ![]() PRO DETAILER TIP: You can wash them your laundry after use. GC Car Detailing Gold Coast ![]() We've all been here before, you're walking to your car and you're confronted with a gift from the sky sitting on the roof of your ride. This can be harmful to your paint so follow these instructions the next time your in this messy situation. Firstly you want to remove the bird or bat poo from your paint as quickly as possible, the poo is acidic especially from the bats. This acidic poo can leave a permanent mark on your car or even strip the paint straight back to the primer, which I've personally seen before. Also the sun baking the poo onto your paint is also harmful as it's drying out any moisture and only leaving the acidic contaminates and accelerates the process. You also don't want to just wipe the poo off with cloth. It will be filled with dirt and seeds which are both very abrasive. So wiping this off would be the same as rubbing your paint with sand paper and thats the last thing we want. It will create swirls and scratches on your paint. Sometimes if you are quick enough just hosing the poo off will remove it and you will be able to get the entire thing off without a fuss. Otherwise if its baked on a littler harder or you are not near a hose the next tip will help remove it safely Grab a microfibre towel and saturate it in water. Then place the towel on the poo and let it sit for a few minutes. The water will help soften the poo and the microfibre towel will do its job and grab any residue in its fibres. After a few minutes Being careful not to scratch the paint scoop up as much poo as you can. Sometimes using a hose at this point can remove the remaining quickly. Though repeating these steps another few times will get the poo off without scratching the paint or letting the acid ruin your cars paint. Scott GC Car Detailing Gold Coast |
